With a chill in the air it’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Stores are putting up their Christmas displays and a few houses around town are dragging out and dusting off their lights to start the holiday season. We are fortunate that our area hosts several activities for all ages this time of year. Below is just a brief snapshot of some events you might want to note on your calendar today!
Nov 24th: Sweet Potato Pie; A Home Grown Christmas – Known for their beautiful harmonies and creative song styling, the band will captivate you with its heartfelt renditions of your favorite holiday tunes. Celebrating their 12th season, this group has entertained audiences from Branson to Disney.
Nov 30th: Light Up Main in Garner – Enjoy brilliant local entertainment, food and refreshments, children’s arts and crafts and the countdown to light the tree led by Mayor Ronnie Williams on downtown Garner’s Main Street on Friday, Nov. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Dec 1st: Garner Christmas Parade – Grab a front-row seat and join the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department as marching bands, floats, classic cars, Santa Claus and many other entries make their way through downtown in the annual Garner Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
Dec 6th: Christmas in Cleveland – Santa, entertainment, and lot of fun! Please plan to come out, participate, and connect your business with this great community!
Dec 8th: The Garner Great Gift Extravaganza – A Holiday shopping vendor and craft fair, Saturday, December 8, 2012 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m at Garner Senior High School.
Dec 15th: Lunch With Santa And The Sandbox Band – It’s an afternoon of fun, food, music and Santa! Join in the excitement as The Sandbox Band brings their unique twist on holiday classics to the Garner Performing Arts Center.
And although this is not in Garner if you haven’t ever visited the Lights on the Neuse just up the road in Clayton, put it on your ‘to do’ list this year. I hope you are beginning to feel the magic of the season and will take some time out to enjoy at least one of these events!
