The Garner Town Council has formally approved a bond referendum that will be held on March 12 as a standalone election for eligible voters inside Garner town limits.
Voters will decide on four questions involving street and sidewalk improvement bonds not to exceed $14.566 million; parks and recreational bonds not to exceed $7.15 million; redevelopment bonds not to exceed $2 million and public safety and services facilities bonds not to exceed $12
million.
As part of its efforts to educate citizens about the upcoming referendum, the Town has launched a website,garnerbonds.com. The website, which includes a sample ballot and details about each of the four bond questions, is also directly accessible from the Town’s main website,
garnernc.gov. Click here for the full news release.
The bonds will provide funding for a number of strategic projects and specific action items outlined in the Historic Downtown Garner Plan. Theses projects will help us prepare for the continued growth of the downtown area as the desired location for a new generation of business owners, investors and homeowners who want to live and work in an urban walkable environment near cultural and recreational amenities.
