So what it’s Monday? How can you have a bad day with a weather forecast for the week that looks like this? Only in the south do we regularly get the chance to wear shorts and flip flops at least one day in almost every month.
That’s one of the things that I truly enjoy about living in North Carolina is the weather. Yes, the summers are hot, but they are supposed to be, but this time of year we often get these sweet pockets of warm weather that just makes you feel good.
I know, I know you can’t get in the Christmas spirit unless it’s cold, I’ll take these beauties any day of the year. Take advantage of these mild days to visit one of our local parks. Garner is blessed with several award winning parks including Lake Benson which includes almost two miles of walking trails, a huge green space, picnic shelters and an incredible play ground.
Just across the street is White Deer Park that is divided into two parks actually, both with picnic shelters and different styles of play equipment. My children enjoy them both and we call the one side the ‘metal’ side that is made up of state-of-the art metal play stations and the other side is the ‘wood’ side with some really cool structures made from logs. This park also includes walking trails and a nature center offering many activities.
Just down the Road is Centennial Park and I would argue had some of the nicest manicured soccer fields in the county. This area also includes a small play ground, swings and a picnic shelter. It’s paved loop is a favorite for runners and walkers.
There are several other small community parks throughout the area as well. Take advantage of the weather this week and go outside and play!!
