Discover Hidden Treasure at Your Local Farmers Market
Thursday, 23 January 2014
By Martin Brossman
Recently my friend David Williams, a professional photographer, was going out to shoot a photo series on North Carolina farmers markets. He invited me to go along with him to several outdoor markets near Raleigh, NC and I jumped at the opportunity. I really enjoy the social atmosphere and the colorful displays of produce at the local farmers markets that bring back great memories created in my childhood.
Growing up in Washington, D.C., I enjoyed frequent family trips to Allentown, PA to visit my grandparents, visits which always included a shopping trip to the large indoor farmers market there. It was a special time for me to spend with my father and grandfather. In fact wherever we… Read the rest

Nam Pham – Community Liason
Monday, 25 November 2013
I moved to Raleigh over twenty years ago when my parents relocated our family from New York due to my father’s job. The move was tough on all of us, but I still remember how excited we were when we finally found the perfect home. To this day, my parents still live in the same house.
It’s a walk down memory lane every time I go there. The neighbors have changed some, but other than some standard updates and remodeling, the house is still the same. To us it’s not just where we live, it’s a place where some our best memories were made. It’s where our friends and family have gathered for various milestones in life. It was and… Read the rest

Benson Chamber of Commerce

There are so many ways in which we can embrace our community. One of these you are already very good at – welcoming newcomers. Another of very great importance is supporting our local businesses. Studies show what when you shop with a local mom and pop store, approximately 51 cents of every dollar spent stays in the community, as opposed to only 13 cents when shopping at a big box store. I am always struck by how busy downtown Benson is, and I urge you to continue your support of these local businesses to keep downtown Benson vibrant. But our community extends beyond downtown, and is currently experiencing some welcome growth. In addition, we have Chamber members from other surrounding… Read the rest

The Apex Chamber of Commerce – Gives Back to the Community
Recently, the Apex Chamber held an education fundraiser appropriately named the Book Bag Bonanza – we asked our members to donate and within a few weeks, more than $11,000 was raised for education. Book bags were donated to the schools filled with supplies. Each of the 9 schools in Apex also received a check to offset the cost of education materials needed throughout the year. During this time of critical budgets cuts affecting education, it is impressive that the businesses of Apex stepped up and donated so generously.
The mission of the Apex Chamber of Commerce is to advocate for the business community and promote a vibrant and engaged… Read the rest
