Chamber Mission Statement
The Greater Smithfield-Selma Area Chamber of Commerce promotes and enhances our area’s economic, educational and social well-being by serving as a unified voice for the business community.
Chamber Vision
The Chamber will make the Smithfield-Selma area the community of choice for business, industry, their employees and families by creating an attractive environment for those who live and work within its area of influence.
Creating a New Tomorrow: A Smithfield-Selma Community Vision
Because of rapid change and continued growth in Johnston County, in 2008 the Chamber produced a new five-year vision plan for the Smithfield-Selma area. Led by 2007 Board Chair David Mills and facilitated by Greenville (NC) Chamber President Susanne Sartelle, the effort addresses economic development, education, diversity, transportation, community image, destination tourism and livability. It’s called “Creating a New Tomorrow – a Smithfield-Selma Community Vision”. The entire plan in PDF format, can be found at the following link:

Program of Work
The Chamber develops a Program of Work each year through a planning process which includes surveying the Chamber membership, discussing issues with key community leaders and holding a fall weekend planning conference. The plan includes a vision and goals for each of the five Chamber divisions: Economic Development, Education, Marketing, Member Services, and Public Policy.
