The University of North Carolina's women's soccer match scheduled for Thursday, September 20 has been moved from Chapel Hill to WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. Game time has been adjusted from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Admission will be free. UNC's 2018 home field at Finley Fields South is currently not playable due to excess rain in the area in the aftermath from Hurricane Florence.

Coastal residents fleeing a potentially devastating blow from Hurricane Florence encountered empty gasoline pumps and depleted store shelves as the monster storm neared the Carolina coast with 140 mph winds and drenching rain that could last for days. While some said they planned to stay put despite hurricane watches and warnings that include the homes of more than 5.4 million people on the East Coast, many weren't taking any chances.

North Carolina's two online charter schools have been open since 2015, but both schools have been unable to shed their state status as low performing. Statewide test results released this week show that N.C. Connections Academy and N.C. Virtual Academy received D grades for their academic performance for the 2017-18 school year.

Over the course of three days in September 2017, Cary, N.C., American Legion Post 67's Veterans Experience Action Center saw more than 1,000 veterans seeking help with Department of Veterans Affairs-related issues. The effort resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in VA benefits being paid out, bringing the total amount garnered from similar VEACS in the state to more than $4 million since 2015.

The United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina has issued subpoenas demanding all voting records from 44 counties across the state as well as, separately, a subpoena seeking a broad swath of information from the North Carolina State Board of Elections and Ethics Enforcement. The subpoenas were served via fax by a special agent with the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Cary on Friday.
